Asia Argento and Ashton Whitty

Asia Argento, born in Rome to a household that includes actors and directors, was a professional in both fields. In 1985, she made her debut in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. She played the lead as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo in the year 1988. Michele Soavi directed The Church 1989. Red Wood Pigeon, directed by Moretti in 1989, was her part in the role of Nanni Moretti's young daughter. Close Friends (1992) by Michele Placido (both writer and director) is the year that Asia truly began to begin to take off. It helped her move from the roles of young girls into more complex adult characters. The film received a great reception during the Cannes International Film Festival. In Trauma (1993) it was the first time she was the first to work alongside her father, the renowned Italian filmmaker Dario Argento (her mother is one of the most beloved actors of Argento, Daria Nicolodi, playing an overweight girl who is in search of her parents' murderer. The Phantom of the Opera The film, made in collaboration with her father who passed away and is the final of three films she's acted in. The other two were Trauma as well as The Stendhal Syndrome. Giuseppe Piccioni employed her deeply absorbed and intense style of acting in the film Condannato a Nozze. Patrice Chereau directed Queen Margot as well. She also had the role of the physically challenged girl in the film. In 1995, she was in a role with Michel Piccoli as Traveling Companion in the film Peter Del Monte. This part earned her an award from David di Donatello (for the most talented actor) as well as a Grolla in Oro. Asia began her career in 1994 as a director when she made two short films: Prospettive (1996), documentary about her father and her mother, as well as Abel/Asia (1998) which was a documentary about cult filmmaker Abel Ferrara. The latter was awarded an award at the Rome Film Festival. Asia debuted as a feature director in Scarlet Diva (2000). In this film, she was also the lead actress and wrote the screenplay. The film was released in May 2000 both in Italy and across the rest the world. The film won awards at the Williamsburg Festival of Brooklyn, New York. Anna Lou was her first born daughter in 2001. After directing several music videos she had Anna Lou. The year 2002 saw Asia appear as Jean-Marc Barr's co-star in The Red Siren (Olivier Megaton) and Vin Diesel was the star in Rob Cohen's thriller The Action. Asia also has a collection of short stories which were published in top magazines.
