Asia Argento, born in Rome to a household that includes actors and directors, was a professional in both fields. In 1985, she made her debut in Sergio Citti's Sogni e bisogni. She played the lead as Cristina Comencini in her first film Zoo in the year 1988. Michele Soavi directed The Church 1989. Red Wood Pigeon, directed by Moretti in 1989, was her part in the role of Nanni Moretti's young daughter. Close Friends (1992) by Michele Placido (both writer and director) is the year that Asia truly began to begin to take off. Asia began her career in 1994 as a director when she made two short films: Prospettive (1996), documentary about her father and her mother, as well as Abel/Asia (1998) which was a documentary about cult filmmaker Abel Ferrara.
